MORE EFFICIENT SUPPLY SYSTEM FOR TEREX® COMPACT EQUIPMENT PARTS
Dedicated distribution centre will improve spare parts availability
Coventry, England June 2012 – To continue to provide its UK compact equipment distributors, national accounts and customers with highly responsive service, Terex is streamlining the supply of spare parts for Terex® compact construction equipment.
Beginning in July, all parts deliveries will come direct from a highly-automated purpose-built parts stocking and distribution centre in Rothenburg, Germany. This includes parts for Coventry built machines that are currently served by the Warwick parts centre. Terex compact construction equipment customers in the UK will benefit with more orders filled completely the first time and next working day delivery service for parts for UK-built backhoe loaders, site dumpers and rollers. This facility, which has handled the distribution of backhoe loader parts for exported UK-built machines since 2004, has benefitted from a major investment to provide more responsive service to all of its customers.
Investment in the dedicated 8,000m2 Rothenburg facility has increased the breadth and depth of the parts stock. Distributors and customers that place Vehicle Off Road (VOR) parts orders (up to 70kg) with Rothenburg before 4pm (UK time) will receive delivery the next working day. The cut off time is 3pm (UK time) for next day delivery of parts weighing more than 70kg.
The facility’s state-of-the-art computer systems maintain inventory levels and check that the correct parts are accurately selected and quickly dispatched. Tracking numbers will be automatically issued to distributors and can be requested by customers so they will be able to track the progress of their order.
Head of Terex Parts Sales, Dave Wills, says: “UK customers should see an improvement in availability from Rothenburg’s more structured and dedicated parts supply operation. Also, our distributors will be increasing their own inventories of fast moving parts to help improve responsiveness to our customers. The cost of parts from Rothenburg will not be affected. I’m also delighted to say we will not be losing the many years of knowledge and expertise of our UK customer support team members as they will continue to be a part of our customer support team at the Coventry factory.”
Dean Barley, VP Global Aftermarket added: “Most manufacturers are faced with cost challenges in today’s market and many choose to simply pass these costs onto their customers harming the long term cost of ownership of their products. We have worked hard building off efficiencies and streamlining our processes to leverage our Global Parts Distribution facility in Rothenburg, Germany. This state of the art facility offers superb fill rates, fast efficient order processes supporting all of our Compact Product line and our Fuchs material handler. Leveraging a dedicated operation without harming the delivery times to our customers has enabled us to provide our parts at the right price and at the right speed. This combined with our local distributor support and increased parts availability should offer customers with the right balance between excellent availability at the right price.”
