TEREX® MINIS ARE REALLY CLEANING UP
Historic corn houses in Germany are being redeveloped – and Terex micro and mini excavators plus a compact track loader are helping with the job
SCHWÄBISCH HALL, GERMANY, OCTOBER 2012 – Hans Fuchs Construction of Ellwangen, Germany, was recently commissioned to renovate a complex of historic corn houses into attractive commercial space. The corn houses were previously used as granaries to store corn and grain. This work is part of a major redevelopment project in Schwäbisch Hall, a city with medieval characteristics on the River Kocher in Germany – not far away from the Terex Construction location in Crailsheim.
To complete the development, Hans Fuchs rented a Terex® TC20 mini excavator from Terex dealer Rühle in Untermünkheim and a TC16, which carved out the soil using a hydraulic hammer. In addition to the mini excavators, Rühle provided a brand-new TC10 micro excavator and a PT30 compact track loader from its rental fleet.
According to the job’s foreman Ralf Pittelkow, the combination of a mini excavator and compact track loader proved advantageous and helped speed completion of the job. He said: “Thanks to the PT30 we saved the labour of two men solely while demolishing and clearing the interior of the middle building. We were able to deploy that labour on more practical tasks than pushing wheelbarrows.”
“We had a similar experience with the compact track loader while excavating the asphalt floor area in the neighboring house. The loader provides a smooth ride for the driver. Although that was the first time we have used a Terex compact track loader, it will certainly not be the last.”
Rühle received two awards from Terex in 2009 for "Dealer of the Year" in the Terex Construction sector as well as the most successful Genie® telehandler dealer in the Terex Aerial Work Platforms sector. Rühle was also among the top Terex dealers in 2010 and 2011. The German company is the main dealer and service provider for Terex compact products in the central, northern and northeastern regions of Baden-Württemberg.
