ONE OF 2013’S BIGGEST ARTICULATED TRUCK DEALS IN THE UK IS SEALED

UK plant hirer L-Lynch seals deal with TDL Equipment for 12 Terex® articulated trucks

Motherwell, Scotland, 9th April 2013 – In one of 2013’s biggest articulated truck deals in the UK, L-Lynch Plant Hire has purchased 12 Terex® TA300s as part of the company’s £12 million investment in new equipment. The trucks were sold by Terex UK distributor, TDL Equipment, and will be used by Lynch’s customers on mainly civil and tunneling projects.

Merrill Lynch, Lynch’s Operations Director, says the strengthening of his plant fleet fits with the company’s goal of becoming the number one plant hire service provider in the UK.

“Many companies are not investing in their equipment right now, but we are taking completely the opposite approach. Our goal is to provide the best service out there and you can only do that by providing your customers with top quality equipment and by being responsive. Everyone at Lynch knows the importance of putting our customers first: from the man washing our machines to the Managing Director. Our trucks are no different - they must meet our customers’ needs. That’s why we chose to strengthen our operations with new Terex trucks which we know, from previous experience, we can rely on.”

Having previously purchased six Generation 9 Terex trucks in 2011 and several Generation 7 in 2007, 2008, and 2009, Lynch said he was more than pleased with the TA300’s performance and reliability but, with such a large investment, he wanted to be sure they were again selecting the right machine to meet their customers’ requirements. He commented:

“We were extremely pleased with the Terex trucks and the service we received from TDL Equipment so our inclination was to return to them. However, this is a huge investment and we wanted to make sure we were making the right choice for our customers’ profitability. After competitive analysis of several truck brands, we were certain that the TA300s and the offer from TDL Equipment could help us provide the best package for our customers in terms of reliability and value.”

The return on investment of the trucks for his customers was a big factor in the decision-making process for Lynch, who said: “It’s vital that our trucks perform well for our customers. Over the past year, we’ve been pleased to hear feedback that, since the trucks changed to Generation 9 and Tier 4i, many of them have seen an impressive fuel saving. We feel that, in meeting emission regulations, the Selective Catalytic Reduction system utilising Diesel Exhaust Fluid technology has proven to be a great solution for the trucks as this is the best technology for machines that typically work in low-duty cycles.”

In terms of responsiveness, Lynch said TDL equipment are always hard to beat. “It is very easy to deal with TDL. They are slick, smooth and responsive and they tailor everything to meet what we require. Everything we asked for, they delivered. In terms of this particular deal, they made things happen.”

Cameron Watson, Managing Director of TDL Equipment, said of the deal: “We’re delighted that Lynch has returned to us to help strengthen their fleet and the deal is testament to our belief that good service and response, coupled with a reliable product, are key to customer retention and new sales. The fact that Merrill chose to return to us shows that those who choose Terex trucks are happy with the machine they get and the service and support they get from TDL Equipment.”

Paul Douglas, General Manager of Terex in Motherwell, where the trucks are manufactured, said: “We are delighted to have this opportunity to provide new 30-ton ADT trucks for Lynch and its end customers. In the market climate today, our customers have many choices and, on this occasion, for Lynch, Terex is able to offer the right product which will give the best return on their investment.

The TA300 Gen 9 ADT has low total cost of ownership, including excellent fuel economy and product uptime. Furthermore, working in partnership with TDL Equipment, together we are able to provide Lynch and their customers the correct support and response they expect from an OEM and regional distributor. The fact that this is repeat business for us, proves that Terex products and the TDL Equipment support network can be relied upon. Once again we thank Lynch for this opportunity to continue to work with them”

Lynch’s Terex trucks have worked on large-scale UK projects over the past few years, including the London 2012 Olympics and major Crossrail developments.

This deal was financed by Terex Financial Services.
