The TW110 mobile excavator demonstrates precision and performance in clearance work while preparing a Bielefeld public utility company supply line

BIELEFELD, GERMANY, July 2013 – Close to the famous motorcycle race track Leineweberring in the Bielefeld district of Heepen, Germany, clearing work for a new supply line of a public utility company is underway. In the next few weeks, a 420m-long supply line is to be laid out here. The company, Garten- und Landschaftsbau Olaf Krause, based in Halle, Westphalia, is using a Terex® TW110® for the preparatory work. The compact mobile excavator, equipped with a Beha stone and recycling grab, clears the shrubs, branches and small trees and moves the bulky load to a 40m³ waste container. “Working with the TW110 is very comfortable,” says driver Michael Boehne, who has been working for the company for 21 years. Boehne says that he is impressed by the performance and driving characteristics of the 11-ton excavator from Terex with its 74.9 kW (102 HP) diesel engine. Within the TW110, travel drive and working hydraulics are independent of each other and form a closed hydraulic circuit. This creates an output that is ideal for operations such as these.

According to Boehne, the modern, ergonomic cab provides excellent visibility and comfort. “You sit comfortably and the work is easy to perform,” he says. Thanks to the Terex fingertip control, the movements of the excavator are so precise that even individual branches and trunks can be maneuvered and lifted using the grab. The TW110 has a large lifting capacity to move heavy loads and its short rear overhang is ideal for narrow construction areas. It also gives excellent stability, which is advantageous, especially in rough terrain. “We have equipped the excavator with wide tires to limit ground pressure in sensitive operations,” says Olaf Krause, owner of the company which was founded over 20 years ago. The 14° axle oscillation of the Terex TW110 also gives good stability on the terrain. Olaf Krause says that he is very happy with his decision to opt for the Terex mobile excavator, especially in terms of cost of ownership: “The operating costs are below average and make the excavator a very economical device. The TW110 fits perfectly with our other machinery.”

In addition to the Beha stone and recycling grab, Garten- und Landschaftsbau uses different attachments with the Terex excavator. “The TW110 can work with sizes from 20cm for cable lines up to a 230cm-wide trench dipper. This means a formation level can be created, which serves as the basis of work for our colleagues,” says Boehne. The long-time employee is experienced in his trade and, therefore, appreciates the other benefits of the Terex TW110, such as the standard additional control circuit for work attachments. He refers to the TW110 as “his excavator” and says he would not do without it in his diverse operations.
