Terex Press Contact:

For many, hybrid power is the future, and the TC16 Twin Drive is particularly suited to current environmental requirements and for working on the most sensitive worksites

PARIS, FRANCE, 27th September 2013 Last year, French-based rental organisation Loxam ordered a Terex® TC16 Twin Drive mini excavator for testing at some of their most sensitive worksites. Following positive test results, Loxam has decided to invest in a fleet of these new hybrid machines.

The Terex TC16 Twin Drive is a mini excavator that offers breath-taking performance. What sets it apart from traditional machines is its two power sources - a diesel engine and an electric motor - providing the ideal solution for working in spaces where noise and pollution cannot be tolerated.

When using its electric motor, the unit can work inside buildings or in confined spaces without producing exhaust emissions and with little machine noise.

Mr. Vincent Lescroart, Loxam Product Marketing Manager, explains why they bought they bought more TC16s:

"We have decided to order new hybrid power excavators for France since they are particularly suited to our customers' requirements, in particular for working in demolition, for building renovations and for earthmoving in urban environments."

The TC16 Twin Drive: the ideal solution for noise and emissions restricted sites

The hybrid Terex TC16 Twin Drive is particularly suited to working on sensitive sites where noise and exhaust gas emissions need to be kept to a minimum, such as in hospitals, residential neighborhoods and office buildings.

Its electric motor, which can be connected to any 32A socket, allows it to work without producing exhaust emissions inside buildings or in confined spaces. With the flick of a switch, the operator can toggle between the electric system and diesel engine.

Hybrid power: a popular choice!

Now, more than ever, hybrid power is gaining increasing popularity within the industry. The hybrid TC16 Twin Drive excavator is one of many recent innovations to come from Terex Construction.

Earlier this year at the bauma show, it was a popular attraction on the Terex stand, where it shared the stage with more than 20 other construction machines, ranging from backhoe loaders and material handlers to wheel loaders, micro excavators and articulated and rigid dump trucks.
