Open For Applications - Terex Internship Scheme Looks To Inspire The Next Generation
Coventry, England, November 2014 - Global equipment solutions provider, Terex Construction, has opened applications for its 2015 engineering internship programme. The student placement scheme, which is run in partnership with Harper Adams University, will see three students from the leading university take a year-long engineering placement at the Terex manufacturing facility in Coventry.
From factory operations management to equipment testing and new product R&D, the internships will allow students to get hands-on with one of the world’s well-respected equipment brands. Each student will undergo a rigorous training programme, helping them to develop real-world engineering skills, as well as further supporting their academic studies.
Returning to university for final examinations following the placement, each student will have experienced how consumer research and market insight is used to develop next-generation construction equipment. Interns who demonstrate exceptional dedication and drive may even be offered a full-time position, starting them off on the engineering ladder at a world-renowned organisation.
“As the construction sector continues to grow, building relationships with the UK’s leading academic institutions and inspiring the next generation of engineers is becoming a key priority,” commented Neal Nowick, General Manager at Terex Coventry.
“Our internship programme with Harper Adams University not only provides exceptional experience for students studying the latest engineering courses, but also encourages graduates to consider a career in the construction equipment sector. Alongside the internship, we also present the ‘Terex Shield’ award to the university’s highest-achieving student studying on the off-highway engineering course. Rewarding innovation and academic excellence, we hope this award will further inspire students to excel academically and push the boundaries of engineering capabilities.”
Ellis Ward, a Harper Adams student currently undertaking the Terex internship programme, commented: “I’m really excited to be undertaking my placement year at Terex Construction. As well as getting hands-on with a number of different roles within the business, the programme is giving me the opportunity to gain real-world experience and to see which parts of the engineering profession I enjoy most.”
