TEREX LAUNCHES NEW RT 100 ROUGH TERRAIN CRANE IN THE USA

Waverly, USA, 19-20 May 2010 – The new Terex® RT 100 offers a 100 US ton maximum load capacity and the longest main boom in the rough terrain crane category worldwide. Terex Cranes launched the RT 100 to meet customer needs in both the US and in Europe, adding a new model in the 80 to 130 US ton segment. The new RT 100 complies with ANSI/ASME B30.5, and is produced in both Waverly, Iowa, USA and Crespellano, Italy. The U.S. version of the crane was unveiled at a major new product event in Waverly, Iowa this week.

Exceptional main boom length and Dual Mode telescoping system

“With the longest main boom length in its category (174 ft/53 m), high lift capacity and compact design, the RT 100 is fully equipped to handle tough jobs even on confined job sites where access is tight” according to Marco Gentilini, Vice President and General Manager for Terex Cranes “The RT 100 is capable of reaching a maximum tip height of 183 ft (55.8 m) by telescoping the 6-section main boom without fitting extensions. The ease of operation is especially valued when the RT100 is used for heavy tasks such as erecting prefabricated concrete parts and steel structures, positioning heavy machinery or plant and equipment assembly.”

The RT 100’s Dual Mode telescoping system adapts the lift to suit individual job requirements and maximize lift capacity. Boom Strength Mode uses the strongest boom sections for maximum capacity at reduced radii and Boom Stability Mode uses the lightest boom sections for maximum capacity at increased radii. For extra boom length, two optional extensions are available ( 26.24-ft and 49.21-ft).

Further product features include: load sensing/flow sharing hydraulic system for smooth and simultaneous movements, power shift transmission (4 gears forward and 4 gears reverse, permanently engaged 4-wheel drive) for high mobility on very rough terrain and a user-friendly load-limiter system.
