STAX Museum

At the original Stax Records location, in the heart of Memphis formerly known as Soulsville USA, the Stax Museum of American Soul Music pays homage to the label that produced over 500 hit songs in the top 100 on pop and R&B charts. Home to more than 2,000 cultural artifacts, music exhibits, video footage, and other memorabilia, the Stax Museum celebrates the legacy of American soul music made famous by Otis Redding, Issac Hayes, Al Green, Aretha Franklin, and others. While the museum focuses on the legend of Stax Records, because it is the only soul museum of the world, you’ll find a number of programs, special events, concerts, exhibits, and memorabilia dedicated to other prominent soul music artists and record labels including Motown, Atlantic, and Hi Records.
