How many graduates are you recruiting this year?
We will recruit in the region of 15 graduates this year across a range of disciplines including Engineering, Service, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Purchasing, Human Resources, IT and Production.
Can I apply for more than one of Terex’s graduate programmes?
The programmes offer very different opportunities and potential career paths. When completing the online application form you can apply for programme in a specific discipline or chose to be considered for all opportunities.
When can I start?
The graduate programme will commence in early Autumn 2008.
How long will it take to complete the on-line application form?
This should take no longer than 1 hour.
After I have made an application how long will it be until I find out whether I have been short listed?
Following the initial sifting and short listing of applications received, a 3 stage selection process will follow:
- 18th – 29th February 2008 - Stage One applicants will be invited to an open day at one of a Terex manufacturing facility in the UK. words deleted. Candidates will be short listed for Stage Two.
- 3rd – 14th March 2008 - Stage Two applicants will be invited to a telephone interview with a dedicated recruitment officer. Candidates will be short listed for Stage Three.
- 31st March 2008 – 11th April 2008 – Stage Three applicants will be invited to 1.5 day assessment centre at national locations to be advised. Candidates will be selected
- Offers to candidates: Week Ending 17th April 2008
When do I apply?
Graduate applications for 2008 will open in October 2007 and close on 1st February 2008. We welcome applications all year round. However, the graduate programme starts in October each year.
How much will I earn?
We offer competitive graduate salaries depending on your area of specialism.
I graduated a few years ago. Can I still apply?
Yes. We welcome graduates who can offer some relevant commercial experience.
What are the entry requirements?
We prefer that all applicants have a sound technical background in a relevant degree with a minimum of a 2.2 (or equivalent) or above. However, we will assess each application on its merits.
Do I need to have a Master’s Degree or an MBA?
No. The UK programme is open to undergraduates (due to complete their studies in 2007) and graduates. However, you can apply if you have these qualifications. We assess each application on its merits.
Do you only accept applications from 21 year olds?
Age is not important to us. All applicants are judged on their demonstrated abilities and their projected/actual degree qualification.
What vacancies are available at which locations?
We have 5 manufacturing sites in the UK. Our Business Units operate within difference facilities and locations, but not every facility will have the same range of opportunities. If location is important to you, please state your preference on the application form. This will help us to shortlist candidates. However, the more flexible you are the greater range of opportunities open to you.
Are there any vacancies overseas?
This is a UK graduate programme. However, Terex is a global organisation with business units located throughout the world. As the programme becomes more established opportunities may become available.
Which universities do you recruit form?
We welcome applications from students throughout the UK.
Do I have to be from the UK to work for Terex?
No. We will consider all applicants form all parts of the world. However, you must have the correct work permit/visa to work in the UK.
Will I receive feedback on my application?
Due to the high number of applications that we receive we are unable to provide feedback to all candidates. However, if you attend one of our assessment centres, we will give detailed feedback on your performance in every case.
What training and development will I receive?
If you are accepted onto the graduate programme you will embark on a comprehensive 2 year development programme. You will undertake formal development and training and be exposed to a number of areas of the business throughout the UK. In addition, Terex are accredited to provide ongoing CPD and mentoring to lead to Chartered status with the IMechE.
Can I defer my offer?
We would like you to start working with us as soon as possible. We will consider deferring offers on a case by case basis.
Do you pay expenses?
We reimburse travelling costs incurred during the selection process on production of receipts.
Are relocation expenses paid?
Yes, we have a relocation policy to cover the reasonable costs incurred in relocating.
Am I guaranteed a job at the end of the programme?
During the programme you will be reviewed regularly to monitor your progress and career progression. You will be expected to meet predetermined success criteria and display your ability to develop. On successful completion of the programme you will be placed in a position within the Company which is correct for you and for the needs of the business.
Do all graduates follow the same scheme?
All graduates will follow a basic outline, however, individual business units and departments may alter this slightly. Due to the nature of our business, we may make ongoing changes to the programme to make it more flexible to the needs of the business. The programme aims to develop well-rounded individuals with a broad overview of Terex. The programme is driven by our business needs, so we will ensure that you get broad exposure.
