On 17th May 2026, the motivated team from Franna Eagle Farm, alongside their supportive family members, once again came together to take part in the YoungCare Budgie Bolt at New Farm Park in Brisbane, Australia.
The annual 5km fun run and walk raises critical funds for YoungCare, an Australian not-for-profit organisation supporting young people with high care disabilities to live independently and with dignity.
Following several days of tropical downpours, the clouds lifted on Sunday morning to provide a welcome break in the weather, setting the scene for a vibrant event along the Brisbane River and surrounding green spaces. The day was filled with colour and energy, with costumes, bubbles, lawn games, face painting, a free sausage sizzle, and coverage by national TV news.
A special mention goes to Quality Manager Julio Monroy, who demonstrated real fortitude by completing the 5km course on crutches following a knee injury. Julio and his family showed strong commitment to supporting the cause championed by YoungCare!
YoungCare continues to lead the charge in developing Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA), advocating for essential policy reform, and delivering vital grants and support services for young Australians with high care needs. Events such as the Budgie Bolt play a key role in funding these life-changing initiatives.
This year, the Franna team contributed to a collective fundraising total of over $47,000, helping raise the bar by more than 10%.
Well done to the entire Franna team for their continued commitment and community spirit. Your efforts are helping to create real change for young people, supporting greater choice, independence, and dignity. The team is already looking ahead to the next event!
