For Hannah-Kate, engineering started with a curiosity about the “hows and whys” of the world. That interest led her to study Biomedical Engineering at Ulster University, where she developed a real passion for understanding how components and systems are designed, developed and brought together to solve real-world problems.
It was this combination of problem solving, design and innovation that naturally drew her towards a career in design engineering.
Now joining MDS, Hannah-Kate is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of manufacturing processes and seeing how designs are brought to life. She’s particularly excited to build her design and manufacturing engineering skills and get involved in projects from initial concept right through to completion.
The close-knit nature of the MDS team was also a big attraction, giving her the opportunity to learn directly from experienced colleagues, gain valuable guidance and continue developing as an engineer from day one.
And she’s in good company. Our current Lead Engineer, Carl Dunn, started his MDS career in the same graduate role, showing where opportunities to learn and develop can lead.
Looking further ahead, Hannah-Kate hopes to build a broad range of engineering skills, contribute meaningful and impactful work at MDS, and continue expanding her expertise throughout her career. As she gains experience, she would also like to share her knowledge and support others pursuing engineering careers.
She’s particularly passionate about encouraging and supporting more women into engineering and hopes she can play a part in creating an environment where more women feel empowered to pursue and succeed in the industry.
Welcome to MDS, Hannah-Kate. We’re delighted to have you on the team and look forward to seeing where your engineering career takes you.
