At a sea gravel operation in Iceland, an integrated Terex MPS and Terex Washing Systems processing plant demonstrates how a complete washing, crushing and screening circuit transforms dredged river gravel into multiple saleable aggregate products.
The process begins with the Terex Washing Systems wash plant, where 40–180 mm oversize material is separated from the feed. The material is then transferred to the Terex MSF24 Modular Surge Bin, providing a consistent feed to the crushing circuit via a Simplicity® variable-speed pan feeder.
The oversize is reduced by the Terex TG220 Bronze Bushing Cone Crusher before being classified on a Terex Washing Systems 16' × 5' two-deck dry screen. Material requiring further reduction is automatically recirculated, ensuring efficient closed-circuit crushing.
The correctly sized material is then processed through the Canica® MV2000 Modular VSI, featuring a five-port rotor in a rock-on-rock configuration to produce high-quality shaped aggregates. A second screening stage classifies the VSI product while oversize is recirculated back to the VSI, maximising plant efficiency.
Finally, the Terex MHS6203 Modular Horizontal Screen accurately classifies the material into multiple saleable aggregate products, while fine material is stockpiled for efficient load-out.
