Select Adds Three Terex Luffing-Jib Cranes to its Impressive Fleet

Terex Tower Cranes is pleased to announce that Select Plant Hire has purchased  three CTL 1600-66 luffing-jib cranes to add to its fleet. Select is one of the UK’s largest and most diverse suppliers of equipment and services to the construction industry. These latest additions mean Select continues to have the largest fleet of the CTL 1600-66 globally, now totalling twelve units.

Select anticipates that the addition of these luffing jib tower cranes to its fleet will significantly contribute to the success of upcoming projects and enhance its reputation as the go-to provider of premium construction equipment in the UK.

Clare Rodgers, Business Stream Leader for Select Tower Cranes said: "Back in March 2023, we were placing orders for number six and seven of our CTL1600 fleet. In less than one year this has increased to 12. This is driven by the requirement for heavy lifting tower cranes, which continues to increase, particularly in the energy and data sectors. Our clients, including Laing O’Rourke, see the benefits of these heavy-duty machines when deploying modern methods of construction to deliver projects for clients. We will soon see more CTL1600 machines being installed on sites across the country, including a fantastic project in Oxford and further projects to be disclosed in the near future.”

Terex CTL luffing jib tower cranes are a popular choice among leading construction and rental companies worldwide. Particularly well-matched to the construction of high-rise buildings on urban jobsites, Terex CTL luffing jib tower cranes are designed to work together in a wide variety of configurations efficiently and safely.

The CTL 1600-66 luffing jib tower crane has a maximum capacity of 66 t (72.8 USt) and a jib tip capacity of 16 t (17.6 USt). The model is equipped with T-Torque slewing technology for better control over crane slewing, Terex Power Plus (TPP) to boost operating capacity, and Terex Power Match to lower energy consumption.

“It is a testament to Select Plants’ vision that they will have at least twelve CTL 1600s in their fleet by the end of 2024, which will be the largest fleet of this model globally. We are proud to be a part of Select's growth journey and look forward to continued collaboration, providing innovative solutions that elevate construction standards across the UK,” said Lee Maynard, Global Sales Director, Terex Towers Cranes.

Commenting on the overall market for luffing-jib cranes, Maynard continues, “We continue to see significant opportunities in the UK for large cranes, but also globally, most notably Southeast Asia and Middle East. Our established and well-respected range of large luffers is in demand, which makes for an exciting year ahead.
