The Franna name has become synonymous with the pick and carry concept in Australia to the extent that that pick and carry cranes are generally known as ‘Frannas’ across the country. Franna pick and carry cranes can replace the work usually completed by smaller truck cranes, since they have no stabiliser legs or outriggers meaning set-up time is much quicker. They are designed to lift the load and carry it to its destination within a small radius. Global Expansion of Franna

As part of the Terex Materials Processing (MP) portfolio, the global expansion of Franna is part of a long-term strategy to grow and develop the brand. Franna initially expanded its global footprint with the FR17, a model specifically designed for the Indian market and manufactured at Terex MP’s state-of-the-art facility in Hosur, India. The FR17 C model for international markets will also be manufactured at Hosur, which has become a manufacturing centre of excellence for other leading Terex MP brands such as Powerscreen, Finlay, EvoQuip, Terex MPS, and Terex Washing Systems. The FR17 C will be supported by the global network of Terex distribution, parts and service centres and digitalisation tools.

Franna FR17 C – a Safe, Compact, Easy to Operate Crane

The Franna FR17 C is a cost-effective, compact pick and carry crane with Cummins Tier 3 engine suitable for Africa, Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Latin America markets (a version with Tier 5 engine suitable for the European market will be released early in 2024). Both models have been specifically designed to meet the vigorous EN 13000 load chart (European product standards for crane safety). With a maximum rated capacity of 17 tonne, the FR17 C has a 5-tonne line pull winch for heavy duty applications along with a 66.5% stability rating in pick and carry applications. The heavy-duty U section fabricated boom with welding on the neutral axis offers superior durability and a competitive edge while lifting heavy loads.

Synchro shuttle transmission with torque converter provides smooth and efficient power, increasing productivity and requiring little maintenance. Driver fatigue is instantly reduced since there is no clutch pedal to operate, and this along with the full-width, two-person cabin provides excellent visibility and driving comfort.
