M412 Processing Extremely Sticky Clay

The M412 Heavy Duty Trommel with chassis riser is separating clay material from rock at 75mm+ (3”) that is then sent to a crusher to produce road base material.

The Challenge

The customer faced a large volume of sticky material with a mix of soil, muck, stones, and organic matter. The material had been transported from the east island (Zealand), where Copenhagen is, to the west island (Jutland) for processing. Its stickiness made separation difficult, requiring an efficient solution.

The M412 Heavy Duty Trommel Solution

The MDS M412 Trommel, with its drum cleaner, efficiently processed the material, preventing blockages and achieving clean separation, even in challenging conditions.

Job Requirements

  • Process sticky material, removing larger stones and organic matter

  • Achieve clean separation of fines and oversize (75mm+)

Key Benefits

1. Fines Separation: The MDS M412 effectively separated clean material (75mm+) from fines, with the drum cleaner keeping trommel openings clear.

2. Sticky Material Handling: The drum cleaner ensured smooth operation, even with Denmark’s typical sticky materials.

3. Oversize Cleanup: The MDS M412 significantly cleaned oversize material, improving processed material quality.

4. Space Efficiency: Its compact design with a chassis riser optimised on-site space without blocking access roads.

Conclusion

The MDS M412 Trommel proved to be the ideal solution, efficiently processing sticky material and improving material quality. The cleaned rock will be crushed for road base, while the fines will be used as a sound-dampening barrier along motorways. This solution addressed a widespread issue in Denmark, demonstrating the trommel’s performance in challenging industrial applications.
