Terex Cranes TRT90 Supports Maintenance at Moroccan Port
Marsa Maroc, one of two main port terminal management companies in Morocco, is using a Terex Cranes TRT90 as a cost-effective solution to support the maintenance of port equipment including ship-to-shore cranes, and for the handling of special and/or oversized cargo.
The TRT90 was purchased from local distributor VEMAT, who works closely with Marsa Maroc to provide technical assistance for their special handling requirements. In the case of the TRT90, Marsa Maroc approached VEMAT requiring a 90-t rough terrain crane that would increase the maintenance capability of Marsa Maroc’s port technicians, reduce costs and equipment downtime.
The TRT 90 is a new Terex Rough Terrain Crane with a 90-t max capacity and a main boom length of 47m with three telescoping modes. Key features include four steering modes, an extra wide and tiltable cabin, and ergonomic and customizable electro-proportional joysticks.
Domenico Paduano, General Director, VEMAT said, “We recommended the TRT90 to Marsa Maroc because of its relatively simple offering—compact dimensions delivering the required lifting capabilities. It is a versatile, easy to use crane, ready to work for long hours, minimizing the fatigue of the operator. Additionally, since Marsa Maroc wanted to ensure they had the latest technology available, we equipped the machine with TEOS, cameras, and all safety features that comply with EU regulations.”
The TEOS Terex Operating System is a recently updated control system for Terex Cranes equipment. It has a new user interface with improved information flow and accessibility to maximise customer’s operating efficiency, safety and maintenance. The 10-inch monitor provides operators with maximum visibility, intuitive navigation, quick troubleshooting and is all-inclusive, from the telematics platform to embedded cameras.
Spokesman from Marsa Maroc said, “Having a solution that satisfies our strict requirements in terms of efficiency, safety and productivity was of utmost importance to us and we are delighted that the TRT90 is performing as committed. In addition, VEMAT was a terrific support to us, offering expert advice and knowledge to ensure we got the optimum product for our needs.”
