Load Testing the First Terex Rough Terrain Crane Manufactured at Hosur

Terex India is pleased to have undergone the first phase of load testing for the RT 45i—the first Terex Rough Terrain crane built at its manufacturing centre of excellence in Hosur.

Known for their off-road capabilities, excellent ground clearance and up to three steering modes, Terex Rough Terrain Cranes can be positioned across a variety of rugged terrains in many applications including infrastructure and construction projects, ports, mining, energy-related industries, disaster relief, yard logistics and general lifting.

“We remain dedicated to serving our customers by delivering solutions backed by local assistance and support,” explains Abhinav Gupta, Dy. General Manager at Terex India. “At present, the only rough terrain cranes being manufactured locally in India are those with a capacity of up to 40 tonnes. We see that demand from customers is moving towards higher capacity models, which previously needed to be imported. Now, India customers have the option of a ‘Made in India’ rough terrain crane with a lifting capacity of 45 tonnes.”

The RT 45i is a 360-degree rough terrain crane that has been designed with state-of-the-art technology to create a benchmark for Indian standards. At 3 metre radius, the RT 45i has the capacity to lift 45 tonnes of weight and has been one of the most sought-after lifting applications in projects and industrial requirements. Meeting all Indian market requirements, the advanced and easy-to-move crane provides customers with an electronic high torque engine, fully automatic power shift transmission, 3 steering modes, fully powered proportional 4-section boom and electro-proportional joysticks.

Meticulous load testing of the RT 45i has been carried out at NB Equipments & Engineering Private Limited (NBEE), authorised distributor for Franna pick and carry cranes in India.

Commenting on its performance, Abhijit Pagare- Head Operations & Tech Support, NBEE says, “We have tested the RT 45i crane meticulously, covering all systems, subsystems, and load chart verification. This robust crane is performing as anticipated, even in extreme conditions with different load, boom and machine configurations as per the test plan provided by Terex India. What has particularly impressed us it its ability to lift and rotate 360 degree a 15-tonne pick and carry crane successfully to a height of 20 metres for the purpose of loading and unloading. Overall, we feel this is a high-performing, versatile rough terrain crane and we eagerly anticipate being able to offer it to our valued customers.”

The RT 45i had undergone rigorous field testing with different applications and under various load conditions. It is anticipated to be available to the India market by the end of 2023.
