Terex Recycling Systems (TRS) has announced the installation of a new state-of-the-art waste processing facility for Newtown Waste Solutions in Glasgow, Scotland. The multi-million-pound investment represents a major step forward in Newtown’s ongoing growth strategy and commitment to increasing recycling performance across the region.

The advanced processing plant, scheduled for installation this summer, will significantly increase the site’s processing capacity while delivering improved recovery rates and higher purity levels of recyclable materials.

Designed to process a variety of complex waste streams—including commercial and industrial (C&I), construction and demolition (C&D), and household waste—the facility will utilise the latest separation and sorting technologies to maximise material recovery and operational efficiency.

The new system will integrate modern screening, separation, and automated sorting technologies, enabling Newtown Waste Solutions to extract valuable recyclables more effectively from mixed waste streams. The plant has been engineered to deliver consistent performance while helping Newtown meet increasingly stringent recycling and sustainability targets.

The investment forms part of a wider expansion programme for Newtown Waste Solutions, which has recently secured several significant waste management contracts across the Glasgow region. The new facility will provide the additional processing capability required to support these contracts while strengthening the company’s role in the local circular economy.

By partnering with Terex Recycling Systems, Newtown Waste Solutions aims to combine advanced technology with operational expertise to deliver a modern recycling solution capable of handling the evolving demands of the waste sector.

The project is expected to be commissioned this summer.
