Terex Washing Systems Installation at Aggregate Industries Shoreham

Aggregate Industries Shoreham, one of the UK's leading suppliers of construction materials suppliers, undertook a major transformation of its Shoreham facility.  The upgrade involved the installation of new equipment, including Terex Washing Systems wash plant (TWS), to optimise the processing of dredged sea gravel and sand, improving both operational efficiency and environmental performance.

Problem

Aggregate Industries' Shoreham facility, a leading UK supplier of construction materials, faced growing challenges from outdated equipment. Inefficient processing of dredged sea gravel and sand led to:

  • Lower product quality
  • Higher operational costs
  • Difficulty meeting increasing demand

These challenges highlighted the need for a modern, sustainable solution to boost output and material performance

Solution

To tackle these challenges, Aggregate Industries implemented a comprehensive upgrade at the Shoreham Harbour site. The solution involved the installation of state-of-the-art equipment from Terex Washing Systems (TWS):

  • H Range Feeder ensures consistent, reliable material flow
  • Overnad Magnet removes ferrous metals to improve product quality
  • MPS Cone Crusher recycles 40mm + gravel into usable aggregates
  • FM120 Compact Sand Plant produces high-quality and impurity-free sand
  • Deep Cone Thickener & Floc Dosing Unit recover water for reuse and minimising water

This strategic investment replaced the aging facility, positioning Shoreham for enhanced production capacity and environmental performance.

Results

The upgraded facility delivered transformative results:

  • Increased efficiency with significantly improved output potential
  • Greater market competitiveness through a wider range of high-quality materials for the Brighton market
  • Stronger environmental sustainability thanks to improved water management and alignment with Aggregate Industries’ commitment to reducing environmental impact and achieving net-zero emissions
  • Improved customer satisfaction driven by better operational reliability and consistent product quality

“The Terex Washing Systems equipment has significantly boosted our capacity and efficiency, helping us meet growing demand while aligning with our sustainability goals. It’s a key part of our journey to become the UK’s leading supplier of sustainable construction materials.”
