Enhanced Efficiency and Productivity at Hoddam Quarry & Concrete Products

Hoddam Quarry & Concrete Products, a long-established family business in Scotland, upgraded their aging wash plant to improve efficiency, expand product range, and streamline operations. In partnership with Terex Washing Systems and Blue Machinery (Scotland) Ltd, they installed an M2100 and FM 120BW wash plant. The new setup now delivers five distinct products with greater reliability, improved quality, and reduced downtime, setting the foundation for long-term operational success.

Problem

In 2022, Hoddam Quarry & Concrete Products faced growing inefficiencies with their aging wash plant at Broom Quarry. Limited capacity and a lack of product flexibility made it difficult to meet customer demand and maintain quality. Key challenges included:

  • Lower output and slower processing, limiting overall productivity
  • Inability to produce a broader range of materials to meet market needs
  • Difficulty maintaining consistent quality under increased demand

Solution

Hoddam Quarry & Concrete Products partnered with Terex Washing Systems and Blue Machinery (Scotland) Ltd to install a new M2100 and FM 120BW was plant. The setup increased efficiency, improved product variety and simplified maintenance. The plant produces:

  • 2mm sand
  • 4mm sand
  • 4-10mm aggregate
  • 10-20mm aggregate
  • 20-40mm aggregate (Including Type 1)

Results

The new Terex Washing Systems setup has improved performance across every area of Hoddam Quarry's operations. The key results included:

  • Increased product range through the M2100’s triple-deck screenbox and FM 120BW’s sand classification system
  • Improved efficiency with a simple, automated setup that reduces training time and downtime
  • Reliable performance and long-term durability from the M2100 and FM 120BW

"The installation of the M2100 and FM 120BW has been a game-changer for our operations. We are particularly impressed with the plant’s simplicity, reliability, and ability to produce five distinct products. The local support from Blue Machinery (Scotland) Ltd gives us peace of mind, and we’ve already installed another FM 120BW at one of our additional sites.”
