Terex FC 6.24H Helps with Rifugio Brentei Rennovation
Built in the 1930s as a tool shed, the Rifugio Brentei is located at 2,200 meters above sea level in the Brenta Dolomites in the province of Trento, not far from Madonna di Campiglio.
Over the decades it has become a reference point for hikers, to whom it offers a restaurant service and rooms for overnight stays.
In spring 2020, a major refurbishment began on the refuge to modernize the rooms, rebuild the roof and build a large, panoramic dining room with a huge window to overlook the majestic mountains. The project, managed by Curzel Legno-Legno House Trentino and, with wood, glass and steel components, is focused on environmental sustainability.
A Terex Flat Top Crane model FC 6.24H has been provided by rental company and historic Terex partner, TecnoEdil Trento. Since the refuge can only be reached by foot along a path, all materials, including the crane for its installation, were transported by helicopter and a cableway.
The Flat Top Crane FC 6.24H - a 1.5 t max capacity crane, was suited to the job due to low weight of components that makes it easy to transport and to install. The jib and the tower can also be self-erected with its patented hydraulic system.
The work continued briskly throughout the summer and autumn of 2020 and, with the arrival of deep snow at the end of November, was suspended. Work is planned to resume at the end of winter, and the refuge is scheduled to reopen for the summer of 2021.
