COBRA 290 CRUSHING CONCRETE

A manufacturing facility was being expanded and upgraded which resulted in the build up of construction and demolition waste on site. This construction waste needed to be processed.

The waste consisted of old blockwork and building rubble from internal walls. EvoQuip’s Cobra 290 impact crusher was then utilised to crush this C & D waste so that it could be recycled and used for a base layer for a new concrete yard.

The Cobra 290 is a versatile and easy to use impact crusher making it the perfect fit for this project. A rotor size of 1000mm (40”) x 1034mm (41.5”), two independent hydraulic controlled aprons and a hydraulic overload protection system make this impactor well suited to crushing concrete. A potential throughput of 290tph (320 US tph) can be achieved using the Cobra 290 impactor depending on feed material and apron settings.

The Cobra 290 impact crusher allows the user to remove rebar from crushed concrete when processing C & D waste. The over band magnet separates the rebar from the crushed material before stockpiling.

Concrete demolition with rebar made up the feed material for this project. Pieces of concrete to be crushed ranged from 20mm – 600mm after larger pieces were broken by an excavator with a rock hammer. The overband magnet on the impact crusher was used to remove the rebar from the crushed concrete. 

The magnet removing the rebar allows for this  scrap iron to be sold and an un-contaminated product to be produced.

Optimising material throughout and reduction is vital when crushing concrete with an impact crusher. The Cobra 290's performance in these areas are unmatched.
