Terex Offers Online Driver Safety Training Courses for Medium-Duty Utility Trucks

Watertown, S.D. - (April 21, 2016) - Terex adds 13 new Driver Safety Training courses for medium-duty utility trucks, part of the company's Master Mechanic Learning Center, to its suite of online training courses.  These web-based modules provide utility fleet professionals with proactive driver training, including mitigating the risk of driving infractions or collisions before they occur.  This enables participants to learn safe driving techniques of Terex® aerial devices, digger derricks and auger drills at each individual's own pace, when it is convenient for them.

"The Terex Driver Safety Training was developed to help utility truck drivers better understand how to proactively prevent collisions," says Jason Julius, technical support and training development, Terex Utilities, "as well as monitor and assess others' driving behaviors, reduce emissions and manage incidents, if they do occur.  Each training module takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete, and participants can star and stop their training as necessary."

The 13 Driver Safety Training course offered by Terex include:
  • Avoiding Animals and Debris
  • Avoiding Crashes
  • Changing Lanes
  • Diesel Particulate Filter
  • DOT Vehicle Inspections
  • Driving and Adverse Weather
  • Highway Driving
  • Intersections and Right-of-Way
  • Limited Visibility Conditions
  • Proactive Driving
  • Sharing the Road with Others
  • Speed Management
  • Vehicle Backing Safety
The modules engage drivers through a variety of interactive exercises and activities to improve the learning experience.  At the end of each module, drivers are tested for comprehension, and when they paws, they will be presented with a certificate of completion.

Work-related motor vehicle crashes are one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities, and crashes cost North American employers billions of dollars each year.  According to Julius, whether a utility fleet professional is looking to improve driver safety, lower costs minimize risk exposure, the Terex Driving Safety Training program is an ideal tool to implement as part of a proactive safety program for new hires, existing drives and high-risk drivers.
