Inspection Courses

INSP 101 - Aerial Frequent Inspections $50

Course Outline
The Aerial Frequent Inspection online course features three individual segments covering the Terex Utilities Aerial Platform Frequent Inspections. The training outlines the Terex Utilities inspection form as well as inspection points and critieria for the different frequent inspections: Daily, 90-Day, and 180-Day. Click here to view a more detailed outline of the Aerial Frequent Inspection course.

Aerial Frequent Inspection Forms
This lesson breaks the Terex Utilities Frequent Inspection form down, detailing the information that needs to be captured and providing explanations and examples on how the form is meant to be used.

Daily Aerial Inspections
The second lesson focuses on the Daily Inspection portion of the inspection sheet. The Daily Inspection lesson takes the technician step-by-step through the sixteen general areas identified in the inspection sheet. Pictures and descriptions are used to provide examples of areas that need to be checked for each inspection point.

90 and 180 Day Aerial Inspections
The final lesson is broken up into two separate parts: 90-Day inspections and 180-Day inspections. Each of these lessons describe the additional inspection items required during the 90 and 180-Day inspection intervals.

A review quiz is provided after each lesson segment to allow the technician to gauge their knowledge and understanding of the topic. The review quizzes can be taken as many times as desired and have no effect on the final grade for the course.

Aerial Frequent Inspection Final Exam
The final exam consists of 40 multiple choice and true/false questions. To successfully pass this course, the technician must achieve a score of 90% or higher on the final exam in a maximum of 2 attempts. Upon the successful completion of this course, the technician will receive a Certificate of Completion for the course.

INSP 102 - Aerial Periodic Inspections $100

Course Outline
The Aerial Periodic Inspection online course features five individual segments covering the Terex Utilities Aerial Platform Periodic Inspections. Aerial Periodic Inspection Forms
This lesson breaks the Terex Utilities Periodic Inspection form down, detailing the information that needs to be captured and providing explanations and examples on how the form is meant to be used.
 
Chassis / Body
The second lesson focuses on the components that fall into the Chassis and Body section of the inspection sheet. This section is broken into two separate lessons: Cab Controls and Body / Flatbed. Pictures and descriptions are used to provide examples of areas that need to be checked for each inspection point.
 
Aerial Unit
The Aerial Unit segment is broken into eight lessons: Basic Hydraulics, PTO/Pump, Outrigger/Torsion Bar System, Pedestal and Turntable, Booms and Platform, Platform Controls, Platform Leveling System, and Extension System. Pictures and descriptions are used to provide examples of areas that need to be checked for each inspection point.
 
General
The fourth segment is broken into three lessons: General Lubrication, Auxiliary Equipment, and Misc. Powered Equipment. Pictures and descriptions are used to provide examples of areas that need to be checked for each inspection point.
 
Red Tag Items
The final lesson installment covers “Red Tag” inspection items, providing details and examples to help the technician identify these deficiencies. This lesson is broken into four parts, each covering different items on the inspection sheet.

Entrance Exam
The entrance exam is provided to help you gauge your knowledge on the topics that will be covered in this training. It also provides the instructors with valuable feedback, allowing us to modify and expand the training to ensure it is as effective as possible. The entrance exam can be taken only once and should be completed before starting any of the training lessons. This exam as no effect on the final grade for the course.

Industry Courses

IND 211 - Dielectric Principles $100

Course Outline
Dielectric Principles features five individual segments covering the basic dielectric principles in AC and DC testing. The segments include: Introduction to Dielectric, What is Insulated, Category A, B, and C, Dielectric Testing Procedures, and Dielectric Testing. Click here to view a more detailed outline of the Dielectric Principles course.

Introduction to Dielectric
The introductory lesson provides information on the basic principles of dielectric testing.

What is Insulated – Aerials and Diggers
The second lesson focuses on what is insulated and what is not insulated on both Aerial Devices and Digger Derricks.
 
Category A, B, and C
The Category A, B, and C lesson introduces the three categories of units and the differences between them. This lesson also covers a variety of components including corona rings, the test electrode system, conductive shields, and vacuum prevention systems.
 
Dielectric Testing Procedures
The fourth segment of this training, Dielectric Testing Procedures, focuses on the forms used by Terex Utilities to perform various dielectric tests.
 
Dielectric Testing
The final segment of this series focuses on the general requirements for performing a dielectric test.

IND 330 - Hydraulic Troubleshooting (OPEN Center Systems) $50

Course Outline
The Open Center Hydraulic Troubleshooting course provides an introduction to troubleshooting in two sections. The first section covers the basics of hydraulic troubleshooting. The second section features 25 different scenarios designed to help develop the technician’s critical thinking skills. Each scenario presents the technician with a diagram, selective information about the system, and the symptoms the user reports. Using this information, the technician must determine what the problem may be. The solution and the reasoning behind the solution is presented after each problem.

 

Quizzing and Testing

 

Hydraulic Troubleshooting Final Exam
The final exam consists of 20 troubleshooting scenarios, similar to the lesson problems. The technician must score a minimum of 85% to successfully pass the course within a maximum of 2 attempts.

The Closed Center Hydraulic Troubleshooting course provides an introduction to troubleshooting in two sections. The first section covers the basics of hydraulic troubleshooting. MATH 102 - Fractions $25

Course Outline
The Factions course provides a review of working with fractions, decimals, and reading a ruler. Worksheets and review quizzes are provided for each section to provide practice on each topic, including:

  • Subtracting Fractions
  • Fractions to Decimals
  • Decimals to Fractions

 

Quizzing and Testing


The final exam consists of 40 questions. The technician must score a minimum of 90% to successfully pass the course within the maximum of three attempts.

The Edge Operator Safety Training

EDGE 220 - Digger Derrick Operator Safety Training

The Edge is a web-based course allowing you and your personnel to study the proper operation of digger derricks and/or aerial devices at your own pace, when it is convenient for you. The course, information, and applied knowledge are designed by our premiere utility equipment training staff to provide you with an innovative, cost effective, and efficient training solution. Both the digger derrick and aerial device courses include all aspects for the safe operation of the unit.
